Editorial policy

Purpose

Fréttir 24/7 aims to be informative and educational: clear explanations of news about Iceland and the world, with the sources visible.

Sources

We rely on public sources such as official statements, statistics, court documents and reporting by other outlets, and we link them at the end of each article. When an article summarises another outlet’s reporting, we say so and link to it.

Facts and interpretation

We try to separate what is confirmed from what is analysis or opinion, and to say plainly when something is unverified or still developing.

Use of AI

One editor runs the site, with the help of AI tools for drafting, translation and illustration. The editor reviews every article before publication and is responsible for it. Illustrations made with AI are labelled as such and are not photographs of real events.

Corrections

If we get something wrong we correct it promptly and note the change. Report errors to ritstjorn@frettir247.news.

Independence and advertising

Advertising, including Google AdSense, is kept separate from editorial decisions. Advertisers do not influence what we publish.
